Ramadan Day 27: Verses from the Quran

Mon Oct 31, 2005 at 08:07:08 PM PDT

Each day during Ramadan, I am presenting a verse from the Quran with a few thoughts or comments. An introduction to this series is here. Inshallah (God willing), I hope that this may be of benefit to any who are interested in learning a bit more about Islam and Muslim belief.

Quran 57:21:

Be foremost (seeking) the forgiveness of your Lord and (for) a garden whose width is like the width of the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who have faith in Allah (God) and in His messengers. That is the bounty of Allah that He gives to whom He wills. And Allah is a Lord of great bounty
This verse reminds us as people of faith to be at the lead of those seeking forgiveness of God for our sins.

While people compete with each other in a lot of areas, I don't think we often seek to be the one who is the foremost in seeking forgiveness for our sins.

But we all do go wrong; I can't think of anybody (and certainly not myself) who doesn't have to seek forgiveness for something.

So instead of trying to have all the latest gadgets or to make more money, or whatever it is that we tend to get caught up in, let's be the first to admit our own shortcomings and seek to mend them!
