Yes, it is another 100F day here in sunny San Jose. I cannot wait for the fog to roll in. I am thinking that I will head on home after this last compile here. Also, I am thinking something along the lines of a light cool dinner.

• Deli salad (whatever looks good at Safeway)

Have been picking up and cleaning. At the moment, I have lost my dustpan, but I am sure it will show up.

It's just too damn hot.  Thank heavens my mom's fig tree just kept growing.  It really cuts the afternoon sun quite a bit now, which makes a huge difference.

Spent several hours scraping paint off of some window frames today.  Actually, that was just what the doctor ordered.  Haven't felt so level- and clear-headed in weeks.  Was hoping to have it finished today, but it's getting too hot up in that room and I need to get something to eat soon.  I've had a strawberry and a piece of cheese so far (oh, and coffee of course).

Last night I went to concert of a friend's.  I guess avant-ambient is kind of what I'd call the music he and his cohorts were making.  Nice stuff, thought I could have done without the projected random verbal phrases.  Actually, after a while, I just closed my eyes and listened.  In between the two avant-ambient pieces, they showed a 1950's instructional movie about bicycle safety.  It wasn't until the end of the movie that I realized it wasn't a parody.

One of the performers was wearing the identical No Sweat high-tops as I was.  We chatted about that for a bit.  I also missed playing the viola like I haven't in a long time.

Tonight, there's a party at my friend Luke's place.  Break out the tequila!!!

Insane day at the office, totally insane.

Got home to find out there's a county inspection of the apartment building on Tuesday.  Meaning that my plans for the weekend are cancelled so I can clean like mad.  Luckily the kitchen's not so bad, and the living room's been worked on a bit, so the big issues will be the bathroom and bedroom.  Ugh, ugh, ugh.

tonight. Milk for them, beer for me. Now I have to go work all that off and I feel rather like a slug. T'would be easier to have another beer but I have pants to button tomorrow!

Also, must be fresh for tomorrow's celebration. My two eldest boys (12 and 15) will be receiving their second degree black belts after a grueling 8 hours of sparring, competition and forms. They have worked very, very hard and I expect two tired yet satisfied sons by tomorrow night. Bravissimi!

Tai won first place for the third grade in his school chess club championship. He is really excited. As for me, I am helping the candidate I volunteered for - he lost the primary - to get his addresses in order and organize after the campaign. For myself, I am taking the time the kid is at swim practice to do brain improvement games on luminosity.com. It is good to see a bit of improvement. Things are stressful now, with the house and my husband's feeling very overworked. I need to contribute but my skills are not too marketable. So for now, I just try to cut back on any unnecessary spending, which is hard with gas prices. Anyone else feeling this kind of pinch?

I babysat for a while last night.  My daughter wanted to go to a friend's birthday dinner.  

For about the last half hour before she fell asleep, my granddaughter escorted me to the door when I went to check if her mother was back yet, and tried to convince me that it was perfectly fine for me to leave.

got the bug again... I am so sick of this.  From my perspective, it is a cold, raw rainy day. My honey informs me that it is actually quite warm and pleasant, which means around 50 degrees F.  Grouse...
