Ramadan Day 2: Verses from the Quran

Update [2005-10-7 1:37:30 by Matthew Krell]:From the diaries by MK. It's been a busy week. I'll TRY to promote this every day, but please keep an eye out for it - it's worthwhile

Each day during Ramadan, I am presenting a verse from the Quran with a few thoughts or comments. An introduction to this series is here. Inshallah (God willing), I hope that this may be of benefit to any who are interested in learning a bit more about Islam and Muslim belief.

Quran 2:186:

When My servants ask you concerning Me, I am indeed near. I answer the call of the one who prays when he calls on Me. So let them seek answer from Me and have faith in Me in order that they are rightly guided.
The speaker in this passage is God. The verse appears in the middle of a passage (2:183-2:187) about Ramadan and so is of natural interest this month.

However, the main reason I selected this verse is just that I find it a beautiful reminder about prayer.

Sometimes it seems as though God can't be listening to our prayers, since they don't come true. But He does hear, and He answers in His own way with His wisdom about what is best for us.

At a time when there seems to be so much injustice, violence, and just plain craziness in the world, it's easy to start wondering if God is there. He is and when we turn to Him, He will help us.
