[editor's note, by PoliSigh]well, I'll front page this too! We can never have too much prayer.

Let us pray*
(keep in good thought, meditate, whatever it means to you to make contact with the Divine or your deepest/highest self)

I wanted to write something really meaningful, but I'm exhausted and facing a biopsy on Wednesday. So what you're getting is what's rattling around in my brain in a stream of almost unconsciousness.

I've known about the Declaration of Humanity for some years, and I tracked down a source to post it tonight. Click the Humanity Conference tab. (Don't ya just hate frames? I do.)

  1. I declare that I am a Spiritual Being, an essential and eternal part of the Soul of Humanity, one and indivisible.
  1. I declare that I am a Human Being whose rights and security ultimately depend on assuring the human rights of all people of Earth.
  1. I declare that I am a Child of the Earth, with the will and awareness to work for goals that benefit the entire community of life on Earth.
  1. I declare that I am a Healer, with the power and purpose to heal the many forms of divisions and conflicts that exist on Earth.
  1. I declare that I am a Protector, with the knowledge and the responsibility to help the Earth recover her natural harmony and beauty.
  1. I declare that I am an Activist, with the commitment and the ability to make a positive difference in my society.

It kind of reminds me of the Doc Savage Oath, which is not really a bad thing.

Let me strive every moment of my life to make myself better and better, to the best of my ability, that all may profit by it.
Let me think of the right and lend all my assistance to those who need it, with no regard for anything but justice.
Let me take what comes with a smile, without loss of courage. Let me be considerate of my country, of my fellow citizens and my associates in everything I say and do.
Let me do right to all, and wrong no man. [I submit the substitution of "being."]

(I was reminded of Doc Savage in Paul Malmont's The Chinatown Death Cloud Peril, a ripsnorting pulp tale.)

These are great aspirations, and I pray for the strength to align my life with them. From a more humble perspective:

God, I offer myself to Thee--to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always!

And we are mindful of and thankful for the animals who share our lives. Darn, I can't get this picture of Only Son of Ceiling Cat to load.
Son of Ceiling Cat

Only? Ceeling Cat has many!  Else why his house got many sofas? Blessings on all of them--kittehs, not sofas-- including the ones to be born at my house the next week. And blessings on teh dogs, burds, and other people owners.

I'll close with a Hindu bedtime prayer:
Oh Lord, kindly forgive my wrong actions done knowingly or unknowingly, either through my organs of action (hand, feet, speech) or through my organs of perception (eyes, ears) or by my mind. Glory unto Thee O Lord, who is the ocean of kindness.

Shanti, shanti, shanti to all.
