I have a sneaky feeling we're going to be seeing a whole lot of sequels being made of the Scary Pastor series this summer. Since Rev. Wright proved such a hit scaring everybody in the first installment, the media's been looking to capture that magic again. I think they may have with....
************************** THE RETURN OF REV. HAGEE ***********************
Pastor John Hagee gleefully anticipates the death of hundreds of millions of people in a series of wars preparing the world for the second coming of Christ: "The end of the world is rapidly approaching . . . Rejoice and be exceeding glad."
Worse, Hagee wants to jump start what he sees as the inevitable battle between Israel and the US and an alliance of the Islamic states and Russia: "The United States must join Israel in a preemptive military strike against Iran to fulfill God’s plan for both Israel and the West." Hagee’s bizarre interpretation of the Bible sees war with Iran as a "biblically prophesized End Time confrontation . . . which will lead to the Rapture, Tribulation and the Second Coming."
(Lord have mercy and please protect us ALL from misguided, war-mongering, crazy men)
Having once believed them to be "agents of intolerance" and "corrupting influences on religion and politics", McCain's miraculous conversion to the Church of Intolerance, can't help but raise legitimate questions about what the hell McCain's motives and judgments are all about regarding this. Of all the religious leaders, the possible next President of the United States could've chosen from, McCain picks from the extreme apocalyptic fringes of the Christian death cults? What the hell's up with that John? I'm curious. And concerned.
Actually, I do know what it's all about. It's all about war... and more war.
...........................
With the prospect of more war looming on the horizon for us with a McCain Presidency, his connections with war praising pastors I think should raise a lot of red flags with those casually considering voting for Mr. Less than Straight Talk (I hated these guys, now I love them) McCain. He seems to like the whole idea of war a little too much for my taste. It's probably for that reason, that as much as I try, I can't seem to get this image out of my head, whenever I think of John McCain becoming president. I realise the tastes of others vary greatly concerning issues of war and peace, but I think most have grown tired of the particular flavor that we've been force-fed the last 8 years in this country. It appears we finally might be ready to try something else for a change.
God, I hope and pray so.
