Central Texas Cat Lovers w/UPDATE

SAVE THE POOTIES: Itty Bitty Kitty Committees Need Emergency Foster Homes

If you've ever wanted the joy of kittens but not the responsibility, you might enjoy this chance.

UPDATE: The pooties are saved! The local Humane Society is going to give some an isolation room until they're big enough or well enough. I'm leaning toward taking mine and her herd; the rescue org is lending me a big cage for my screened porch, and my vet has given me instructions for keeping ringworm out of the house and away from my cats. Just a personal opinion, but I think prayer works. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and contributed good energy.

Weekly Faith Roundtable: Unity

Wed Mar 19, 2008 at 05:46:08 PM PDT

I signed up to write about the denomination I’ve belonged to for 16 years. I chose the Other Theist category, but I may be there under false pretenses. In my research I repeatedly encountered statement s about Unity’s and its founders’ devotion to Jesus Christ and His teachings, though you’re more likely to hear Him referred to as our Elder Brother and Way Shown than Savior, unless they’re using the definition of “savior” that means “healer.” However, Unity is more a part of the New Thought tradition than the Christian Protestant tradition, which was the only other possible category.

Follow me to explore the question more thoroughly. I’ll let you decide if I’ve classified Unity incorrectly.

Chewing the Fat

Sun Feb 10, 2008 at 01:37:15 PM PDT

So what are you chewing? What's chewing on you? Me, it's that I'm working a squillion hours each week, and I'm SO tired of it. I'm hoping I can at least get rid of the freelance project I was so ill-advised as to take. And when I feel that life has lost its sweetness, then I want to grab a handful of sweets.

Just because there hasn't been one posted today. You're not chewing on the snacks in front of the TV, are you?

Progressive Bible Study, Better Late than Never Edition: Luke 1: 47- 55

Wed Dec 12, 2007 at 09:40:57 AM PDT

Promoted by PD. As Rose notes, I had asked her to sit in this week while I was away at training.

My excuse for tardiness is in this image, which may or may not load. The Excuse
If it doesn't, you can see it here.

Thank you, Pastor Dan, for giving me the chair this week. I’ve chosen the alternative text, Luke 1:47-55, to think about this week. However, when I clicked the link to Oremus, it included verses before and after, which I didn't immediately recognize as not part of the assignment. Tonight I'm going to stick to the actual text, but tomorrow--that is, in the near future--I'll expand to the other verses. That's the part I wrote first. I suffered for my art, and now it's your turn.

My Horrible, Wonderful Day w/Update

Fri Aug 10, 2007 at 07:31:19 AM PDT

Into every life rain must fall. Scripture tells me it falls on the just and unjust. Okay, I'm fine with that. But do I have to get rain, hail, hurricane, noreaster, and frogs all at once? And my lifelong dream as well?

Follow me behind the fold if you dare. Otherwise, just send prayers.

A Christian Says "TODAH"

Fri Sep 15, 2006 at 04:45:53 PM PDT

"Todah" is Hebrew for "thank you." This--my first diary!--is an article I wrote for a magazine that had gravely insulted their Jewish readership. The magazine didn't want it, and the only other reader is a rabbi.

There's more...much, much more. If you can think of any publication that would like this, please let me know.

Gut Shabbos and Shabat Shalom!
