Frugal Living
Sat Jul 19, 2008 at 10:44:42 AM PDT
ok... I have not done a diary for awhile. The last one was on Cheap Eats. So, given the recent state of affairs of our U.S. economy, I thought it would be good to start a thread on what we can do for ourselves in light of our present situation. Also, given many of the comments, here at SP, it has become apparent that living frugally:
Frugal Living
- Good for you, (fiscally, mentally, spiritually)
- Good for your neighbors, (using less is good for community and planet)
- Is about lifestyle and choices one makes

Cheap Eats
Sun Jan 06, 2008 at 05:58:45 PM PDT
ok... as promised I here is the cheap eats diary. I suppose I can say that I am one of the de-facto cooks here at SP. Actually, one of these days, I would very much like to make a pilgrimage to Wisconson and help Mr. and Mrs. Pastor with that June chicken barbeque thing.
However, since of late, I have been very busy with home remodeling, and creating the latest broad band Internet thing; I haven't been able to do much contributing here at SP. However, Rain has kickstarted the Cheap Eats with the Cheap Eats Coffee Hour. I can say this; I have a little bit of time while the Gulyasleves are cooking in the oven to post this diary...

Turkey Thread
Mon Nov 19, 2007 at 08:21:39 PM PDT
[editor's note, by PoliSigh] promoted by me as I am getting into a Holiday kind of mood! Please add favorite recipes, favorite prayers, as well as favorite disasters!!! I will try to keep promoting this over the next few days. Happy Thanksgiving Ken--thanks for the thread!
ok... as promised, I am starting a Turkey thread here at SP! For the last 3 years or so, I have hosted Thanksgiving over at the Wada residence. Since we are in the middle of a major remodel right now, my Mother-in-law has graciously accepted the hosting duties. She still wants me to make that Morton's Black Turkey.

Turning 50
Thu Nov 08, 2007 at 02:23:56 PM PDT
ok ... as many of you know, I have turned 50 years old on 06-November-2007. Perhaps there are not so many here that are quite as crusty ... or perhaps crustier? But who can say that there is none other decade of time as crusty as that 1970's decade! In honor of this, Mrs. Wada sent me an email that had what else? A JC Penney's catalog from that fine era. This is so good, I thought it would be nice to share some of this with the folks at this fine SP community.

Stagflation
Fri Aug 10, 2007 at 12:09:45 PM PDT
All of the turmoil in the markets, and the sub-prime credit crunch seems to have finally made its way into the mainstream media. Also, the numbers are all pointing to some very troubling times ahead for us here in the US. This, along with the fact that 2008 is an election year points to a very 'interesting' time to be had by all.

Financial (in)Security ???
Mon Jun 11, 2007 at 02:54:22 PM PDT
ok... This week, I have promised Mrs. Wada to finally get off my duff and do something about our financial situation. By that, I am specifically referring to that 'shining path' down the road to retirement. Actually, to tell you the truth, I believe, in my situation, I will most likely work until I cannot work anymore. Not that it is because I have to ... I can tell you I really do enjoy what I do for a living.

16-April-2007
Mon Apr 16, 2007 at 04:39:37 PM PDT
After experiencing the events of today, I was thinking about NOT posting this diary. I have not posted a diary for awhile, but I was thinking about doing so this last weekend, and decided to post inspite of the fact that I currently have a pretty full workload right now. For you see, today is my eldest son's 21st birthday!

Chicken Soup
Mon Jan 08, 2007 at 08:40:41 AM PDT
In the Methodist tradition, two of our ministries involve the sharing of music and food. Even though, I play guitar, and have imparted much of the musical tradition, for my sons; I find it difficult to share music here on the Internet. Also, I believe Mahanoy, has done a
spectacular job of doing the musical sharing
here at Street Prophets. So, with this in mind, I thought it would be nice to share some thoughts on food. Especially a kind of food that pretty much everyone can relate to, and pretty much crosses many cultural boundaries. That food, of course, is Chicken Soup!

New Years Resolutions 2007
Tue Jan 02, 2007 at 10:39:13 AM PDT
This year I plan on getting more fit, and losing weight ... Heh; I think all of us are pretty much bombarded by this phrase at this time of year. But enough about me, and everyone else that does New Year's Resolutions. Taking a cue from Arianna Huffington ...

Crystal Ball 2007
Mon Jan 01, 2007 at 07:48:05 PM PDT
The purpose of this diary is to get other viewpoints as to what is most likely, less likely to happen in 2007.
As I am writing this on the evening of the 1st day of 2007, a few ideas, and perhaps a few wishes come to
mind...

Beaks, Claws, Scales and Paws
Mon Dec 18, 2006 at 09:07:35 AM PDT
I just wanted to take this brief time to talk about those that share our lives with us, and bring us joy, and are integral parts of our families. I wanted share a few words, and comments about the animals that are very much part of our families and family life. I am of course speaking about our pets.
