Monday Meditation... Got Purpose?

Mon May 19, 2008 at 05:27:31 PM PDT

I saw a bumper sticker on the back of a truck a few days ago that really made me stop and think.  It read simply "GOT PURPOSE? I AM HERE TO SERVE..."

Welcome to Monday Vigil...
In general, we begin at 8 PM EST, 7 PM CST, 6 PM MST and 5 PM PST. If the time is not good for you, join in when you are able.

Saddam & Terrorism: I read the report- summary (part 2)

Thu Mar 20, 2008 at 09:07:35 AM PDT

A couple of days ago, I posted a summary of the first part of the IDA's Saddam and Terrorism report that the administration was originally going to release with a little fanfare, but then pulled the press plug and slipped it out quietly.  You can find that summary here...  I joked that I read the report, so you don't have to, but..

No, actually you should read this report.  You can find it here... on the right-hand side(big pdf!)

I think you should read it because anything the current administration doesn't want you to easily access must be GOOD stuff. I mean, they canceled a press conference about the release of the report so as to avoid being asked questions about it. So read it-- get informed about what is in this report and perhaps more importantly, what is NOT in this report. Then ask questions... ask Congressmen what they think of the report...ask journalists to ask questions of administration officials...keep asking.

What follows is a summary of the second main part of the paper: State Relationships with Terrorist Groups.

I am a Values Voter...

Wed Jul 19, 2006 at 02:44:37 PM PDT

There, I've said it.

I am just not the kind of values voter that the Republicans are aiming for.  I vote based on values like justice and peace and goodwill to humanity-- all of humanity.  Last time I checked, if we are to assume that we were made in God's image, then all of us are in this thing called life together.

I respond to "Culture of Life"... I just happen to believe that it has value beyond the argument of when it begins.  I want there to be respect for life all the way through... good pre-natal care for all, good education for all, good working wage, etc.

I happen to think that I am not the only "Values Voter" out there who can see that Republicans are not pushing real values, rather they are confusing that with HATE.
