In a previous diary I defined nonviolence as the strategy of controlling political power by cutting it off at its roots. This week I would like to delve a little more deeply into the "source of the source," if you will, which is obedience. The political power of the few is built out of the obedience of the many. So why do the many obey the few?

To control power, it is necessary to wield power, but what is power and where does it come from?
