A chance to kick the cat

title=Yes, dear Prophets, here's an opportunity that should not be missed. Marko is flying to America and will be within reach of your boots for a time.

I'm going to be mostly hanging out in Madison Wisconsin through the first week in July but I thought I'd head down to Wayne on June 22nd and catch pastordan's Sunday show. 9 am Sunday services.

Fair warning eh PD?

Monday Vigil: Nonsense

title=Hiya folks, yer ole pal Marko here slappin' ya upside the head with a heapin' pie-tin of nonsense.

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living.

Let's all take the good doctor's recommended medicine and get to work shall we?

Pictures from Slovakia

Thu Aug 02, 2007 at 06:11:02 AM PDT

A few (very few) folks around here expressed interest in seeing some of my vacation pictures from my camping trip to the scenic Fatra mountains of Slovakia. I've squashed the pictures down to reasonable web proportions. Nothing over 50kb is the guideline used over at dKos and seeing as we're riding piggy-back on kos's server it's the polite thing to do. Still, I've got over 30 pictures...

title=If you've got a problem with fluffy little diaries with lots of pictures just pass on by. Looking at someone else's vacation pictures is one of the items not covered by the Geneva Conventions yet-- But if you're in the mood for a pine-scented peek at a beautiful part of our planet then I'll dim the lights and get started.

What's going on around here?

Tue Jul 17, 2007 at 04:53:03 AM PDT

Alright folks what's with all the abortion crap?

I come back from my vacation to find icky abortion discussions in my diary. And the diaries section is just filling up with the vomitous subject. Oog and sheesh... I couldn't stand to soil my nice little vacation diary by joining in the endless discussion of the abundantly stupid subject of abortion. And it's way too late to toss Fleetguy a troll rating for an off subject diary hijack and one terrible (despite the cuteness it's creepy) picture in a diary that was going to be strictly light and fuzzy.

title=Sigh, thanks to the others for paying attention and tossing some kibble out for the cat. Nice to come back home to find something tasty in my bowl. But, before I start digging through my vacation pics and start posting some thank yous for the thoughtful comments, I have this awful, rancid, old abortion hairball to hack up and spit at you all...

Tell a Marko

Sat Jun 30, 2007 at 09:17:39 PM PDT

Update [2007-7-18 3:26:38 by Marko]: Sorry to bow out for a bit after promising photographs to some folks but I kinda got swatted for hackin' up hairballs on the rug. If you're still wanting to see a pic or ten from my vacation in Slovakia I'll post a new diary some other day. I just don't have the stomach for fluff today.

I'm going to be absent from SP for two weeks. I'm going camping in a lovely area of Slovakia known for its hot springs and rocky woodlands.

I thought about how much of this little SP community life of mine I miss when I take off for just a weekend and I had an idea for a different kind of Diary...

Postcards from Prague

Thu Jun 07, 2007 at 05:33:32 PM PDT

I once wrote that I'd post some photographs from this amazing city that I live in. These are just a few scraps that I had lying around turned into scrawny little JPEG files so don't start drooling. Of course, before I begin I should give the usual disclaimer to discourage tourism. We do seem to have more than our share of pickpockets, trash and spittle covered sidewalks, vandalism, car theft, dishonest cab drivers, and deeply ingrained racism. Our politicians however, are no dumber or uglier than anyone else's.

Could somebody get the lights?

Alcoholism, Homosexuality-- Diseases?!

Fri Mar 16, 2007 at 02:43:18 AM PDT

A comment by Pyesetz the Jewdog on a recent, um... very recent, post by dsjwriter got me started on a comment and I decided I'd rather toss it into a diary of its own and let everyone play with it instead of hijacking dsjwriter's good works... or to pretend that it really has all that much to do with the Jewdog's comment.

The comment and my thoughts below:

A Hop Into My Litterbox

Wed Feb 14, 2007 at 03:37:55 AM PDT

Some folks have soapboxes...

This started as a mere comment to JCHFleetguy's recent Secularism vs Pluralism diary but then it just got away from me so I thought I'd catch it and give it a cage of its own to snarl in.

Oh, and in case any sensitive skinned types get the impression that I've gone all anti-religion on you--

Happy Valentine's Day.
Much love to you all.

Loose Ends

Mon Feb 05, 2007 at 02:15:01 AM PDT

Welcome to my Monday musings. I had a few bits of unfinished business around SP that I thought I'd take care of before the week carries me away. Seems to me I owed someone a story...

Prophets, Chihuahuas, Feel My Wrath!

Fri Jan 26, 2007 at 09:43:13 AM PDT

or Marko "makes a muscle"; Hilarity Ensues.

Promoted by Wolfie : As a Street Prophet and atheist, Marko is well-positioned to discuss atheism. Besides, arguments are faaaaaaar more entertaining when delivered by a large, indigenous feline all puffed out'n'bristling, sporting a bottle-brush tail whilst dancing sideways and hissing ... <C-T G>

Update [2007-1-29 8:34:34 by Marko]: What a cool surprise! I hadn't expected to see my furry face on the front page. Although by now I've slid off into oblivion. I've written much better stuff. I really shouldn't just keep laughing at Wolfie's intro and get to expanding and replying.

Still Breathing

Been missing you folks. Here's what I've been up to lately instead of pestering you all..

Marko Xmas- Crossing Cultures

Sun Dec 24, 2006 at 04:18:20 PM PDT

Update [2006-12-26 1:21:36 by Marko]:-- Thanks for your comments! I'm leaving town for a week but will be back next year to answer questions (thanks Sarea!) and add some photos and more traditions. Hopefully you folks won't be sick of holiday diaries by then... Wishing you the best of luck and health in the new year, -M
Keeping the 'X' in Xmas.

Remember before the days of the internet when there were only the annual barrages of billboards and full page newspaper ads imploring us to "Keep the 'Christ' in Christmas"? Well, here's a diary entry about how my family celebrated Christmas without Christ and how I now celebrate Vánoce... which is the Czech word for Christmas. You'll note that the Czech word for "Christ" , Kristus is somehow missing from Vánoce. Not that he doesn't put in an appearance-- it's just that you might not recognize him...

Remembering... and forgetting. The rattling, ricketty train of thought of Marko.

All aboard!
